What most kids love best is playing the pool and being on the beach.  But if you can prize them away, there are a number of attractions in the area specifically aimed at children.

Let's start with Lakes Park which is within a 5 minute drive of the house, it's a real gem.  You can hire a family-sized surrey or bikes.  There's also a  fragrance garden, well equipped playground, fountain play park, picnic areas, ice cream shop and a fun miniature train ride.  The park puts on a show at holiday periods (it has its very own Easter Bunny, for instance!), and parts are sometimes lit after dark.  It also has fresh water lakes, with canoes & water bikes for hire.

Over the river in Cape Coral there's Sun Splash Water Park, open April to October.

There are several places to play crazy golf nearby the house, including one next to Lakes Park;  our favourite is the pirate one on the way to Fort Myers beach.

If you want to see a film, Bell Tower Mall has a 20 screen cinema.

Further afield is Busch Gardens, Tampa's very own theme park.

The Mote Aquarium in Sarasota is good too, and has a great boat trip with their own marine biologists to show you the marine life that lives in the bay.  Terrific with children - they get to touch & feel some very slimy things!
